| There was a king Sindibad who liked hunting. And this king had a falcon with him day and night.. |
| One day the king's falconer said "My lord, it is a good day for hunting". So the king gave orders and they went hunting. |
Un d铆a el halconero del rey dijo "My lord, es un buen d铆a para la caza". |
| They placed a circle of nets and a gazelle approached and the king said "Whoever allows the gazelle to jump over his head and escape - I will kill that man"! |
| The gazelle approached the king and the king bowed to the gazelle to acknowledge her presence, and the gazelle jumped over the head of the king and escaped. |
| The king saw that his men were winking and pointing at him and he said to his Wazir, "What are my men saying"? |
| The minister responded "they are saying that you proclaimed that whoever allowed the gazelle to jump over his head and escape would be put to death". |
| The king said "By my life, I will follow that gazelle and bring her back". So he got on his horse and followed the gazelle. |
| When the king found the gazelle, he set his falcon loose. The falcon blinded the gazelle with his talons and the king killed it and started back to his men. |
| Now the country was dry and the king was thristy, so he went looking for water until he saw a tree with water dripping from it's branches. |
| He took the golden cup which he had made for his falcon, he filled it with water, and he gave it to his falcon to drink thinking that the falcon was thirsty. But the falcon knocked it down and spilled it. |
| So the king filled the cup a second time with the water dripping from the tree and the falcon knocked it down and spilled it a second time. |
| The king was angry. He filled the cup a third time and offered it to his horse, but the falcon knocked it down with his wings and spilled it a third time. |
| The king said "Allah confound you falcon.. You are depriving all of us from drinking". And he struck the falcon with his sword and cut off her wing. |
| But the bird raised her head and said by signs "Look up in the tree". And the king saw a brood of vipers whose poison drops he had mistaken for water. So the king repented of injuring the falcon and went back to his men. |
| Suddenly the falcon gasped and died, and king Sindibad lamented with sorrow for killing the falcon that had saved his life. |
| Now this is what happened to king Sindibad, and if i were to do as you desire, I would repent even as repented the man who killed his parrot. |
| "And how was that" said the Wazir. So the king began the tale of the husband and the parrot. |
